World Peace Gathering 2018 APPRECIATION

Dear honored guests, Abbot Zenryu, respected Shomyo monks, and composer/musician Shibuya from Japan, the sangha monks and nuns from Theravada and Mahayana temples, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, and VIP guests,

Thank you for attending this year’s World Peace Gathering (WPG) at the Anaheim Convention Center. It was a great honor to have you with us on this momentous milestone year.  We hope you found the event memorable and beneficial to the world peace movement.  Your presence at the Sangha Offering and Peace Mandala certainly brings us another step closer towards that very purpose! Our Japanese guests went through the tough hurdles and obstacles because of the typhoon to travel thousands of miles to get to Anaheim and we are deeply touched by their tenacity.  The Shomyo concert with electronics awed us all who heard their unique sounds and chants (a unity between traditional and modern) for peace! We wholeheartedly look forward to bringing WPG to Japan in 2019 to experience more!

To all our attendees near and far,

Thank you for coming to celebrate with us! Without your presence, this event would not have been a success.  There were up to 2000 attendees for WPG this year, our most to date.  We hope you found the event joyful and were uplifted with the spirit of peace. We strive to always serve the community with warmth and kindness.  Please forgive us if there were any missteps and know that we will improve and do better at the next WPG.

Please join us at future WPGs and events by visiting our website for any news and updates for the coming year.  We look forward to seeing you again.

To all our WPG volunteers and dharma protectors /Bo Tat Ho Phap (BTHP) and altruistic short-term monastics/Xuat Gia Vi Tha (XGVT),

Every one of us (275 XGVT, 83 BTHP, 331 volunteers) from around the world contributed in some way, big or small, with your love, support and care for the event and for all the attendees.  Yes, there is always room for improvement on an organizational standpoint, but overall, each of you did an amazing job!  The preparation and long hours of meetings before the event, the attention and focus during the event, and the hard work of tearing down, loading/unloading, and transporting after the event are all so crucial and deeply moving to witness.  There are some individuals whom this event would not have succeeded at all without them, however, the names of these individuals will remain anonymous because we are all a TEAM….but please know that the WPG organizers sees your talents, hard work, and leadership/team player skills, and we are eternally grateful for you.

With all that is said and done our 10th year anniversary of WPG in 2018 was a spiritual endeavor where we will continue to expand, grow and learn together to spread peace across all ethnicities and religions.  Because of all who attended and the dedicated volunteers and diligent cultivators who poured their hearts and time to make this event happen, we certainly succeeded to bring the beautiful lights of the Peace Mandala and Buddha to thousands!

With utmost gratitude and appreciation,

The WPG Organizing Team

(on behalf of Venerable Hang Truong and Compassionate Service Society)

PhapHoiLogoInvitation Letter

Dear Friends,

Compassionate Service Society will hold World Peace Gathering in Orange County on September 7, 8 and 9, 2018. This year, we will celebrate 10 years Anniversary of World Peace Gathering. Looking over the past decade, 10 years is not the destination but an important milestone demonstrating the faith and countless support of thousands of attendees each year. World Peace Gathering had a humble beginning and faced numerous challenges of wet winter rain and extremely hot summer when it was held inside a tent of Phoenix Club in Anaheim for consecutive years. Eventually, it was moved to Long Beach Convention in order to serve a growing number of attendees in subsequent years. This is a turning point depicting the maturity of our event management and providing an international venue capable of serving over one thousand people. This year, World Peace Gathering will take place at Anaheim Convention Center, an elegant world class conference center that can accommodate several thousand attendees and is located near many Southern California communities. The growth of World Peace Gathering shows the power of collective prayers. We all want peace and healing, first within our hearts, then within our family, then to our community, and the world. Our World Peace Gathering is just for these purposes.

Compassionate Service Society and Venerable Master Heng Chang cordially invite you to join:

10 Years Anniversary
2018 World Peace Gathering

Friday September 7, Saturday September 8 and Sunday September 9, 2018
At the Anaheim Convention Center
800 W. Katella Ave., Anaheim, CA 92802

Highlights of the 2018 World Peace Gathering include many educational and spiritual activities such as: Prayers, dharma talks, meditation, Exercise for World Peace, Three-Steps- One Bow for world peace, Tea Meditation for world peace, Photography Exhibition of 10 years World Peace Gathering and Peace Mandala Ceremony.

Peace Mandala Ceremony, the main attraction of World Peace Gathering, will be held on Sunday September 9, 2018. Mandala is a dharma assembly where the aggregation of spiritual power of myriads of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and thousands of attendees takes place. The function of the Mandala is to bring peace and healing to the sick and the suffering and liberation to those who have passed away. It also has the unique power to transform karmic obstructions of all those who attend.

In addition, Compassionate Service Society also offers the 12-day Altruistic Home-Leaving program (from 8/30/2018 to 9/10/2018) that provides the unique opportunity for participants to experience the transcending path toward Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, and to inspire practitioners to integrate the essence of Buddhism into their daily life. This short-term cultivation is called Altruistic Home-Leaving, or the practice of leaving home for 12-days, and we request that the participants make a vow to cultivate on behalf of one (or many) loved ones. This dedicated practice will transform our own karmic hindrances, and we only develop true loving-kindness and manifest altruistic behaviors when we cultivate "on behalf of others".

For more details about registration to attend the Dharma Assembly, participate in the retreats, volunteer, or donate, please visit our website:  http://wpg.compassheart.com.  The Organizing and Service Committee sincerely requests all who wish to attend to register soon to help facilitate their meal and transportation planning for these three days. Meal tickets for lunch and dinner will be distributed when you come to the Dharma Assembly. Please register at:
